“Like A Flood is a reminder that in the midst of our grief, pain and weakness, there awaits His grace, ready to take over like a flood.” - Kecia Holden
WHO IS KECIA HOLDEN?
Kecia Holden is a singer/songwriter who knows how to usher in the presence of the Lord with a quiet grace that comes from a lifetime steeped in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
On her new single Like A Flood, Connecticut singer, songwriter, and producer Kecia Holden has refined grace in a new way! While her signature graceful melodies are powerful in delivery, you can really hear her heart with soaring vocals and timeless lyrics. She has honed her songwriting craft over the last 5 years, and most recently began producing based on a prophecy spoken over her life in 2018.
“Like A Flood was birthed out of grief. I had lost my job for the second time in 10 years. My health and the health of my mother was failing. I hadn’t properly grieved the loss of my bestie Michelle Barber Hutcherson. In one day, all of the injuries to my mental, emotional, and spiritual capacity had come to a head.” says Holden. While she tried to move forward in her new normal, God had other plans. “I had written other songs, but this one, at this specific time, saved my life!”
It’s no wonder that upon its release, Like A Flood became the anthem of the grieving in just a matter of hours. “The morning of release day, I was flooded with messages on Twitter from parents who had lost their children. The overall response was that the song brought feelings of peace, comfort, and encouragement. That’s when I knew the purpose of the song: It wasn’t just for me. It’s for the brokenhearted. It is a reminder that in the midst of our grief, pain and weakness, there awaits His grace, ready to take over like a flood.”
The upcoming album Grace Letters features all original music from Kecia and songwriters Torrence J. Nelson, Latracia Ross-Croxen, and Sam Nzimela from South Africa, as well as production from Will Johnson, Jr. Grace Letters will feature Everything I Need, I’m Not Afraid, and the supercharged, Afrobeats inspired Jehovah (You Are My God). It will also feature a song entitled Evolve, which Kecia describes as the most personal song she’s ever written.
“Grace Letters is a journal through my life written to someone or something. Songs like My Everything, written by Torrence, is me pouring my entire heart and love out on God, while Evolve is a breakup letter to fear, self doubt, procrastination, etc. I’ve never been so vulnerable in my music until now. This record is simply my private worship made public."
